Authors guidelines for submissions
To submit a story to the Shadowrun Fiction Archive, please follow these guidelines:
- Write a story based on the Shadowrun world setting.
- An introducion to your story is always nice, but not necessary.
- Choose a three letter acronym for the whole story. For example "Out of Time" uses 'oot'.
- Break the story into chapters (every chapter should be two or three pages long). A good guideline is 7 - 12 K, so each part of the story loads quickly. ;)
- Convert to plain ASCII text format, as I am being rather particular for the html formatting for the time being (see below). :> Word Wrap off, and double spaced. :)
- Include this in each part of your story at the very top. (It's information that will be kept with each file so we know who did what in case of *gasp* server trouble.)
1. Chapter Title (optional)...
<!--#TITLE="Your Story title here."-->
<!--#AUTHOR="Your name (and email, if you like)"-->
<!--#COPYRIGHT="© 1997"-->
- Save every chapter in a file named with the acronym followed by a three digit progressive number. 'oot000.html' is the introduction for "Out of Time", 'oot001.html' is chapter 1, 'oot002.html' is chapter 2...
- For consistency of the Shadowrun Fiction Archive, the use of the more advanced HTML tags is being discouraged. Also, the formatting that the Shadowrun Fiction Archive might mess up the existing layout, so simpler ir WAY better. ;) Basic tags like <P>, <BR>, <B> & </B>, <I> & </I> can all be used without worries. If you do need to use something more advanced, let me know so I can make sure what you want won't clash with the way the Fiction Archive handles things. :)
- Zip everything in a zip file with the story (File length is not an issue, give it your full story name if you prefer) Since at the moment I am only accepting submission via email, follow the three 'W's. WARN me before sending the zip file if it is larger than 50K. WONDER if your mail made it to me. WAIT for me to reply for you to send it if it is excessively large. (I get quite annoyed at people who just up and send some HUGE file, it usually gets deleted without me even looking at it. ;). Include [SFA] as part of your subject line.
- If you have an image that suits your story, (and it doesn't violate any copyrights...) include it with your story submission.
- Pack everything into a zip file and send it to me as an attachment. That's all. Each file should start with some fields needed to recognize the story title, the author, etc...
